Acorns Nursery is involved in CSR projects which focus on children, education and care. Acorns Nursery supports projects initiated by Acorns or those initiated by other organisations whose vision is similar to our own. Acorns Nursery CSR projects present the perfect opportunity to offer children and parents from the nursery the chance to be involved in and to bring about positive change to the education and care of children in Romania. Because each one of us and each gesture matters, Acorns Nursery CSR projects take into consideration the opinion of each parent, the way in which he/she can support projects whether this be through investment of their time in a project with their child, the offer of contacts which can support a project, promoting or by sponsoring a project.

In Acorns we have learnt that together, we grow better and stronger!

We look forward to having you join us by becoming involved and in changing for the better the life of a child who doesn’t have the chance to come to Acorns, but who does have the chance for you and your child to take care of him!

0 2 3 Early Education

project initiated by Acorns Foundation

Every year Acorns Nursery is involved in promoting among parents from the nursery, the need for early years education for children enrolled in state crèches and nurseries. Each year we either raise money or collect goods in order to provide toys, furniture, or offer training for staff in these institutions.

In 2014 we donated 10 book cases, 8 sofas and over 300 books to 3 centres for early years education belonging to the Health Department in Bucharest. The event was made possible due to donations offered by parents in Acorns Nursery at a special book auction. Princess Marina Sturdza, who supports our educational projects participated at the launch of this centre. Donations of books and furniture will be followed up by staff training offered by Acorns Nursery, as part of a voluntary strategy.

Children with heart disease in Marie Curie hospital

Each September, Acorns Nursery organises activities for children on the theme of World Heart Day. They find out about the way in which their heart works, how they can keep their heart healthy and about the fact that there are children who suffer from heart problems. Acorns promotes their cause and offers children in the nursery the chance to donate their sweetie money in order to help children in the cardiac surgery ward in Marie Curie hospital. Money was either donated directly to The Children’s Heart Association or was used to purchase toys and other goods for the children in the hospital ward.

The children of a soldier killed in action in Afghanistan or Irak

Remembrance Day (held in UK and in Acorns Nursery on 11th November) offers us the chance to find out about soldiers who serve Romania on the front line. Unfortunately some of these are killed in the line of duty, and Acorns Nursery supports their children through the donation of toys and goods, using money collected from the selling of poppies (the symbol of this special day in UK) in the nursery.

Children who are visually or hearing impaired, through Light into Europe

At least twice a year, Acorns Nursery helps meet the needs of children who are visually or hearing impaired, through our support for Light into Europe. This is through selling tickets in the nursery for Bonfire Night, and the celebration of Shades Day on which children and parents find out about children with these special needs and how they can offer them support.

Children suffering from terminal illness, through Touched Romania and Hospice Casa Sperantei

Red Nose Day and Wrong Trousers Day are happy occasions when children in Acorns Nursery can have fun on the chosen theme and at the same time, help children suffering from terminal illness, through the organisations of Touched Romania and Hospice Casa Sperantei. Acorns Nursery, in its turn, organises happy events for these children (with a clown or magician) or purchases goods necessary in certain situations.

Fiecare copil in gradinita

(Every child in kindergarten or nursery) project initiated by OvidiuRo

Together with OvidiuRo, Acorns Nursery supports the project “Fiecare copil in gradinita”, emphasising the importance of early years education and the benefits of this, by helping children who cannot go to a nursery or pre school. With the help of children and parents from Baby Acorns and Shiny Stars, we managed to collect toys, games and money to buy chairs and shelves for children in Augustin village, so that they can go to nursery.

Cartile Copilariei

(Childhood Books) project initiated by Asociatia Curtea Veche, under the patronage of His Royal Highness, Prince Nicolae

In 2014, one of the projects supported by Acorns Nursery was ”Cartile Copilariei”. Parents and children from Rainbows and Early Explorers raised money to buy books for children in poor areas. Over 4000 lei was raised, which contributed to the launch of 2 libraries for schools in the counties of Dolj, Cotofenii din Dos and Argetoaia.
