Australia Day
Australia National Day is one of the children’s favourite annual events and was celebrated in each group. Baby Acorns pretended to be kangaroos, Shiny Stars listened to Aboriginal music, Rainbows created their own boomerang design and Early Explorers made cockatoo crafts and painted Aboriginal masks.
1st of March – Martisor
Children had a lot of fun creating their own martisor and sharing them with each other, as they celebrated the traditional start of Spring.
Chinese New Year
The children had a lot of fun dressing up in Chinese style costumes, painting and drawing Chinese symbols, playing with noodles, exploring Chinese resources and listening to traditional music.
Valentine’s Day
A day filled with love, red and heart shapes in Acorns. Each group had its special way to learn about how to care for each other and how to show this in practice.
Book Week
Throughout the week we had a wonderful atmosphere, full of books, cookies and creative crafts made by the children which raised money for the charity project supported by Acorns, Cartile Copilariei. Book Week ended with our annual Book Fair, enjoyed by all our families.
International Women’s Day
It was a very special day in our nursery, children created special cards for their mothers, talked about what they like doing together and how they show their love towards their mummy.
Red Nose Day
All the children had lots of fun dressing up in funny clothes and taking part in a parade, while they raised money to help terminally ill children. They prepared red nose cookies and painted their nose red, learning that helping others can be great fun!
World Forest Day
On this day children learnt more about the importance of the trees, how to take care of them, explored different textures and a special forest tray.
Find a Rainbow Day
The nursery was particularly full of colour on this day, the children painted rainbows on different textures such us paper, pasta, and the older children found out how a rainbow is in the sky!
International Day of Dance
Each group celebrated this day by dancing and learning how to use their body to express different moods while listening to different type of music. It was a day full of joy!
Fruity Friday
It was a day which children really enjoyed and was a great example of how they learn by using their senses as they were able to see, touch, taste, smell fruits as well as hear some of the names for the first time.
World Turtle Day
A fun and informative day in which children learned all about these very special creatures and how to protect them in the wild.
Children’s Day
We celebrated with a lot of games, bubbles, music and creative and manipulative activities, outside in the garden.
Africa Day
All the children enjoyed experiencing the sights and sounds of Africa! They were greeted with traditional African tribal music, and pictures of animals, people and words which decorated both floors in the nursery. They enjoyed a range of wonderful activities which opened their eyes and ears to this fascinating continent!
Friendship Friday
Teachers and children shared hugs and together found the key to the real friendship on this special day.
British Week
The children read stories featuring well known British characters, learnt about London taxis, Big Ben, red phone boxes, double decker buses, Queen Elizabeth, and practiced their British good manners!
Father’s Day
We welcomed 60 fathers to activities and fun in the garden with their child!
Trip to Dedeman Colentina
Early Explorers found out about real construction tools, were fascinated by all the equipment and loved trying on the protective gear as they learnt about the safety issues.
Trip to Colt de paine Bakery
It was a great experience to learn about bakers and their equipment and as you can see it was a very “hands on” experience resulting in the children taking home their very own loaf of bread.
Trip to Dr. Melnic Clinic
This trip was a great opportunity for Rainbows to find out more about what means to be a dentist, about the equipment they use and they were reminded how to take care of their teeth!
Trip to Fan Courier
Children had the chance to see how the conveyor belts work, where the letters and parcels are stored and sorted out and how delivery vans collect and deliver them.
Trip to Train Museum
Rainbows enjoyed a wonderful trip where they learnt plenty of things about engines, trains, railways, but they were most fascinated by the 14 m long model railway and excitedly watched over and over again as the little trains ran across mountains and fields…
Trip to a printer (CNI CORESI)
Linked to Acorns Book Week, Early Explorers went on a trip to a printer. They found out more about how technology is used to print posters, books.
Trip to Ferma Animalelor
Rainbows have a lovely time to Ferma Animalelor. They had the chance to feed the animals, to touch them, to recognize different types of animals and habitats and they were really proud that they had learnt about them in the nursery.
Trip to Antipa Museum
Early Explorers looked carefully at all the exhibits, calling to their friends in order to share interesting points with them. They were also able to use their reading skills to find out information and enjoyed using the interactive screens.
Trip to the Zoo
Another great experience for the children, when they had the possibility to see different types of animals, recognize them and being proud that they learnt about them in the nursery.
Trip to Herastrau Parc
They started their trip with a boat ride on the lake which was a great learning experience as well as fun. Afterwards they walked around the lake and park; at the lake they stopped to watch the ducks, swans and talked about the different kind of birds they could see.
Trip to La Bicla Loca (a bike shop)
It was a great opportunity for them to find out more about different types of bikes, how different parts of bicycles are called, how to take care of their own bicycles. They were really impressed by the room where bicycles are repaired.
Trip to Vitan Fire Station
It was an exciting trip with lots of questions for the firefighters but the best part was when they went for a ride on a fire engine, turned on the siren, helped the firefighters use the water hose and tried on different parts of a firefighter’s uniform.
