On 16 January, the children celebrated Winnie the Pooh Day!
This is the anniversary of the author A. A. Milne and the children are invited to bring a Winnie the Pooh, Piglet or Eeyore toy to the nursery for activities about these famous characters. Did you know that Winnie the Pooh began his life in stories which the English writer A. A. Milne wrote for this own son?
Moreover, children enjoyed some cooking activities linked to Winnie the Pooh day: Shiny Stars made biscuits with honey while Rainbows and Early Explorers made a teddy bear snack with rice cakes, peanut butter, bananas and raisins.
The purpose was cross curricular – linking the special day with creative activities in order to give children the chance to explore the ingredients, smell them, mix them with spoons (practicing manipulative skills), work together as a small team, observe how the ingredients changed as they mixed together.
