National Day of Romania or 1st of December is always a reason to celebrate in our nursery and this year was no exception.
The children learnt about our country and its traditions, they danced to Romanian music and wore traditional Romanian costumes.
The children in Early Years became familiar with the colours of the Romanian flag – red, yellow and blue and dance “hora” as they made a big circle and sang “ Alunelu, Alunelu hai la joc…” while the children in School Years talked about the special designs on traditional plates, about traditional costumes and different parts of this special country where they live.
In our nursery from Intrarea Poiana (zona Aviatiei), Baby Acorns played with colored rice and pasta, naming colors of the flag and strengthening their finger muscles by pretending to make polenta. While Shiny Stars danced hora, played a parachute game using the flag instead and enjoyed a messy sensory activity.
